Plaques
Dedication Plaques are often used to commemorate new city construction and places where bronze, brass or aluminium plaques are displayed.
Polyester resin reinforced with thermolite (natural stone filler) is used as base and covered with a cold cast coating consisting of pulverized genuine metal (bronze, brass or aluminium) fused to the base with bonding liquid. These plaques offer considerable cost savings compared to metal plaques cast at a foundary, while maintaining the same characteristics (longevity, durability and weather resistance). Our plaques will outlast any other plaques - wood or metal. They are also light weight and easy to install.
We offer the Dedication Plaque in two basic treatments:
- For regular plaques, the rough cast plaque is sanded, hand rubbed, buffed and polished to a shiny luster. The background is hand stippled background to provide contrast and readability. The metal is then treated with an application of an anti-tarnishing hot wax and sealed with protective acrylic-based lacquer.
- Alternatively, a higher contrast plaque is prepared using a permanent black outdoor paint for the background leaving the protruding letters and seal in metal luster. This enhances the readability of the inscription.
Both styles are outstanding; personal preference is the deciding factor. Please specify when ordering.
SPECIFICATIONS:
The dedication plaques are available in various sizes (see price list). The amount of text determines the appropriate size.
All plaques have a 3/16" raised framing border. The letter sizes are 1/2", 3/4" and 1" in Helvetica style. The background is hand stippled. Four 3/8" x 2" carriage bolts are embedded in the plaque and suggested mounting instructions are furnished. For plaques containing a city seal, the seal is hand-carved and molded separately. Plaques can also include aa bas-relief portrait created from a good quality photograph.
