HOW IT IS DONE:

Polyester resin reinforced with thermolite (natural stone filler) is used as base and covered with a cold cast coating consisting of pulverized genuine metal (bronze, brass or aluminium) fused to the base with bonding liquid.

We offer the Dedication Plaque in two different basic treatments:

A. The rough cast plaque is sanded, hand rubbed, buffed and polished to a shiny luster. This includes all background, letters and seal, if a seal is desired. The hand stippled background provides the desired contrast. The metal is treated with an application of an anti-tarnishing hot wax and then sealed with protective acrylic based lacquer. This treatment protects the surface against harmful atmospheric elements and fast altering of the finish. However, bronze and brass will change in time which is a characteristic of these metals. Note -- a careful treatment with medium coarse steel wool restores the original shine.

B. To provide a stark contrast, a permanent black special outdoor paint (the same is used on cemetery plaques or markers) covers the background leaving the protruding letters and seal in metal luster. This enhances the readability of the inscription.

Both finishes are outstanding and only personal preference is the deciding factor. Please specify when ordering. (B is the most common.)

SPECIFICATIONS:

The Dedication Plaques are available in various sizes (see price list). The amount of text determines the appropriate size.

All plaques have a 3/16" raised framing border. The letter sizes are 1/2", 3/4" and 1" in Helvetica style. The background is hand stippled. Four 3/8" x 2" carriage bolts are embedded in the plaque and suggested mounting instructions are furnished.

PORTRAIT DEDICATION PLAQUES:

Instead of a city seal, a bas-relief portrait can be used. A good and not too dark photograph is required (see price list).

ADVANTAGES:

The main advantage is a great cost savings, still maintaining the same characteristics of metal plaques from the foundry. It has the longevity, durability and weather resistance. The plaques are light in weight, therefore, easy to install and no long waiting periods for delivery.

Our plaques will outlast any other plaques - wood or metal.

NOTE: When ordering the Dedication Plaque with the city seal, the seal is carved and molded separately. Not only the Award and Recognition Plaque, if desired, can be purchased without preparation cost, but additional plaques with the same seal are offered at a reduced price (see "Existing Seal" on price list).
